Eli turned one this past weekend.
It was very bitter-sweet for me. It seemed like the year just flew by somehow, yet I remember all the different moments of the year.
Eli continues to be such a laid back little guy. He loves the attention from Colin and Maggie and somehow does a great job playing by himself, those rare moments that he gets some alone time. He absolutely LOVES balls right now, I remember Colin going through that stage, too. He's got a great throw, and we can sit for quite some time playing catch on the floor.
He loves going up and down the stairs and can do so without much attention on our part. He has always been very cautious, which could be why he hasn't started walking yet. When he finds himself standing on his own, he will slowly lower to the floor in a perfect squat position. He'll pick it up shortly, I'm sure.
We still can't leave him alone in the kitchen, or else the lower cabinets get emptied and Moose's dog dishes will be dumped on the floor. He continues to be a great eater for us. He crawls outside wanting to get on our neighbor's trampoline with the kids.
So glad I caught this picture of my 3 favorite kids ever.
Continuing our tradition, mini donuts at breakfast on birthday morning.
Without a doubt, he loved the donut.
We also measured him on our wall.
True to how we have him pegged, he is right in between Colin and Maggie (our first mixture kid!)
We had lots of balloons, such a fun treat for Eli!
The bounce house was so much fun, too!
Poor Gordon fell and hit his face on the concrete the day before Eli's party. And, as luck would have it, he has picture day this week. I think he'll look tough!
We did Eli's smash cake outside. My mom made the really cute banners for Eli (we put one on his highchair and one on the fireplace mantel with his monthly pictures on it!)
Singing happy birthday to him
Looking forward to the cake
He started out just barely getting his fingers in it, but then really started digging in
He had his face covered and even had it in his hair and all over his clothes!
Offering some frosting to Daddy
He loves feeding other people
He never did dig into the actual cake, just the frosting.
I don't blame him!
Then we opened the gifts, he got some great ones.
We gave him Peanut Butter pup and a "who loves Eli" book.
He got a lot of fun textured balls, some books, clothes, bibs, and little toys.
It was perfect!
The next morning I tried to grab some pics of Eli in his crib with the balloons.
I never got the "one" great picture, but I think he had fun playing in there.
Happy first Birthday, Eli Jacob!
If you think our hands are full, you should see our hearts.
