Colin's trip to the dentist

After talking it up for a few weeks, Colin was ready for his big trip to the dentist...for the first time!
The pediatric dentist office was really neat, it had safari animals all over the place.
We got a 7 am appointment so there was no waiting, which would've actually been okay with Colin and Maggie because they had all sorts of toys in the waiting room.

We got called back really quickly and Colin hardly had any time to adjust before he was thrown into the dentist chair.  They only allowed one parent back with him in the room, but Maggie and I were right outside, providing all sorts of support!

He was good to go until she tried to tilt the chair back...
that kindof freaked him out a bit...

Yikes! Get me out of here, Dad!

Then he relaxed a little bit, watched some Curious George and let the hygienist clean his teeth, floss, and we even got some xrays done.

Maggie was busy watching the fish and being a crazy 20-month-old right outside the door

Colin did great getting his xrays, too.
He got to sit in my lap, which helped a ton.

Overall, no cavities and a clean set of teeth.
They did tell us to start saving some money for orthodontic work later on, cause apparently his baby teeth are pretty close together (they prefer for them to have gaps in between them) and his permanent teeth will be much bigger, thus, not having enough room to fit in properly.

Way to go, Colin!  Way to be brave at the dentist!

Books at bedtime

Colin is getting to be the king of stalling at bedtime.
Somehow it takes us FOREVER to get him to bed and to stay in bed.  Hopefully this is just a phase that he will grow out of in a week or so, but in the meantime...
One of his favorite stalling tactics is reading lots of books.

He has become quite fond of reading to Maggie.
It is the sweetest thing.
Makes my heart burst with pride...

We just adore the sibling love these 2 have already...
We are just praying it will continue...

Much better

We are feeling much better now, thank you to everyone that has been checking in on us.
Just as quickly as you can start feeling bad, you get better, thank goodness!

We've been enjoying some extra time on the weekends having Brian and I both home.
Still working on little projects around the house...We'll probably be doing that until we're 80 years old!

Here's some highlights of our evenings...

We've been blowing some bubbles out in the garage...

Maggie's been practicing up on her Zumba on the Wii...

Colin's been helping me cook dinner...
(which somehow looks like canned dog food in the picture, but it was really good chicken enchilada pasta, I promise!)

And the kids have been enjoying their time at night hanging out
These two just LOVE doing what the other is doing...good and bad.
I call them Pete and Repeat.
Good thing they're cute! :)

Winter sickness

The sickness bug got us...and it got us good.
Maggie was pretty darn sick the week of Christmas, with a stinkin' fever of 102-104 degrees for 7 days.  We just couldn't get rid of it.
Finally the doctor agreed to put her on an antibiotic and we immediately saw relief.  But, not until she passed the bug on to Colin.

Colin was pretty darn sick the week of New Years.  He didn't have quite as high of a fever, but both of them had the nastiest sounding cough and weren't really sleeping (at all!)

So, we had some cranky, tired, sick kids paired up with some cranky and tired parents.

Somehow Brian and I have managed to avoid it all, which we are pretty proud of considering both of them just wanted to cuddle the entire time they were sick and we had direct coughing, sneezing, and snot wiping all over us.

My mom came into KC to watch Colin this past week (seriously so thankful for her help!) cause Brian and I couldn't take any sick days from work.  I was by myself at the hospital because my co-worker had taken the week off, and Brian can't ever take time off around the holidays because that's his busy season.

I think we are on the mend, finally.
We sent both kids to daycare for the first time in over 2 weeks.

We hope the rest of you are all healthy and well, I will try to get back to my regular posting soon!
