Every year my company competes in the Kansas City Corporate Challenge, which consists of a bunch of athletic events (from horseshoes to triathlons to tug of war). I, of course, only participate in the swimming events, but it's a lot of fun to hear about all the other athletes at the hospital.
They have a kick off event for the competition that takes place in the parking lot of the Truman Sports Complex (where the Royals and Chiefs stadiums are).
The kids look forward to it every year because it is so much fun. Bounce houses, obstacle courses, Star Wars characters, prizes, etc.
Who wouldn't like it? :)
Last year Maggie refused to be in the picture with the Star Wars people because she was too scared.
We talked about it on the way there, and she decided she would do it, like a big girl.
So here they are, and I have to laugh because Maggie looks SOOOO uncomfortable in the picture.
Her hands aren't even relaxed, she looks like she could sprint away as fast as she can.
Colin was pumped though, so another year of awesome pictures for him!
Colin loved the obstacle course
And Maggie just did whatever she wanted, but she had fun!
There was this really awesome maze/bounce house/slide that they had for the kids.
Maggie thought it looked fun, then got about 3/4 of the way up the ladder and chickened out.
Colin even crawled up there to help ease her the rest of the way, but to no avail.
We had to pry Colin away from that thing - maybe next year Mags will be more adventurous!
After the party, we spent the rest of the evening hanging out with neighbor friends.
It was such a beautiful night - the kids have been getting to bed later, but it's hard to convince them to go inside when it's so nice out. A little sign of things to come for the summer...
This girl LOVES swinging and could spend hours doing it.
Colin had tons of fun playing with Alex and Dylan.
Our neighborhood will be crime free with these 2 superheros around!
